Memories
I finally got to hug Mom again. It was in my dreams, of course, but she didn't fade away. I approached her slowly, as though I was being careful not to cause her to disappear. I reached out to her and she was still there. I put my arms around her and she was still there. Then I squeezed her tight and I felt her arms embrace me and we hugged for a good amount of time. The best part was that I could feel her embrace. I know she is with God, but at least I still get to see her, even if it is only in my dreams.

One time we went into Scinellos convenience store to pick something up. Mom went one way and I started to go the other. As we were walking away from each other she said "bread and butter". So I got some bread and butter. When I brought it back to her, she just stood there laughing at me. I thought she was losing it, but apparently it's something you say when you get separated in a store.
I remember when Carol and Jimmy would tease my mother when we went to Aunt Mary's house. I remember how much my mother always talked about Carol and how much my dad had to say about her. My parents truly LOVED her. She reminds me sooooo much of her mother. Nothing even got them down. And they read every book in the universe, I thought that when I was little. Carol always had a smile on her face, she always made me laugh and she made me realize that life is suppose to be fun !
I remember Mom and I got into playing Spades with Aunt Patty and Uncle Del. For about a month, we would go over their house everynight and play until about 2:00 in the morning. I don't know how we did that for a month, but we did. That was always fun to do.
I have a ton of memories of Mom, since we spent so much time together. One that really sticks out is when we were standing next to each other in KB toys and Mom let a fart. So, being the good son, I said "excuse me" so that they would think it was me. About 20 seconds later, she did it again and I told her "I'm not taking the rap for that one". She thought that was hilarious and laughed about it the rest of the day.
One fond memory I have with Mom that has always come to my mind through the years was when I was 5-years-old and Victor was 4-years-old. Mom made ginger bread cookie people with us. We made two big ones and decorated them -- one as the mother and the other as the father. Then we made a whole bunch of little ones, which were the children. That's when we lived in Hagerstown, Maryland on a farm where we rented a duplex from the owner. After we cleaned up the cookie mess, Mom made finger paints using soap powder and food coloring (and I don't know what else). Vic and I had a blast sitting at the kitchen table making finger paint pictures (although it did feel gritty). I don't remember Kenny being there, but he was only one, so maybe he was down for a nap.
